THE MOTHER IS THE MOTHER

Created using six layers of handcut stencils and colors from the palette of the Kali yantra, this painting blends the imagery of the Marian apparation of Our Lady of Guadalupe, patron saint of the Americas, and the Hindu mother goddess Kali. The two seemingly different figures are both forms of the Divine Feminie energy that is the creative force of the Universe. The Divine Feminine has a serene form and a wrathful form, but always loving, and this is the merging of the two.
